Dr. Scott A. Fleischer is a board-certified psychiatrist in both Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry, providing thoughtful, physician-led mental health care to adults and older adults in the greater Philadelphia region.

With decades of clinical experience, Dr. Fleischer is known for his calm, patient-centered approach and his commitment to truly understanding each individual before developing a treatment plan. He treats a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and complex psychiatric presentations, with a focus on helping patients achieve meaningful and lasting improvement.

Advanced Expertise in Medication Management and TMS Therapy

Dr. Fleischer has extensive expertise in psychopharmacology, the safe and effective use of psychiatric medications, and has completed advanced training through the Neuroscience Education Institute. He is also recognized as an NEI Master Psychopharmacologist, a designation reflecting advanced knowledge in psychiatric medication management.

In addition to traditional treatment approaches, Dr. Fleischer has been a leader in integrating NeuroStar® Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy into clinical practice. TMS is a non-invasive, FDA-cleared treatment for depression that can provide relief when medications alone have not been effective.

Under his direction, TMS therapy is thoughtfully incorporated into comprehensive, individualized care plans, offering patients additional options for recovery.

Clinical Leadership and Experience

Dr. Fleischer serves as Medical Director of a multi-level clinical team of mental health providers based in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. His leadership emphasizes high-quality, coordinated care across outpatient and long-term care settings.

He is a member of the Medical Staff at Abington Hospital – Jefferson Health and Chestnut Hill Hospital, and provides psychiatric consultation to numerous nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the region. His work in these settings reflects a deep commitment to caring for older adults and individuals with complex medical and psychiatric needs.

Education and Academic Involvement

Dr. Fleischer earned his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College, where he completed his internship and residency in Psychiatry and served as Chief Resident. He remains actively involved in medical education as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at Jefferson Medical College and has served as a Clinical Preceptor for Drexel University College of Nursing Master’s Program.

Dr. Fleischer is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DLFAPA) and is actively involved in several professional organizations, including:

Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society (former federal legislative representative)
Pennsylvania Medical Society (House of Delegates)
American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry

He has also lectured extensively on depression, dementia, and behavioral health in geriatric populations, contributing to ongoing education within the field.
